Job Expired

Asset Inspector Role: Work Outdoors in the New Forest

Love Working Outdoors in a Stunning Forest Environment?

If you enjoy spending time outside, we have an exciting opportunity for you in our Coastal & Engineering Team. As an Asset Inspector, you will play a crucial role by inspecting Council assets for defects across beautiful open spaces, car parks, and scenic coastal locations throughout the New Forest.

Are You Detail-Oriented?

The position of Asset Inspector is ideal for individuals with a keen eye for detail. You will be responsible for identifying issues that may affect public health and safety in these areas. It’s your job to record and report these findings to the relevant office staff, ensuring timely rectification.

Your contributions will be vital in maintaining both the standards and the visual appeal of Council areas. By doing so, you will help create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, significantly impacting the wellbeing of the community.

What’s in It for You?

Joining our team comes with a range of benefits:

  • Annual Leave: Enjoy 22 to 23 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Competitive Salary: Earn between £25,783 and £28,140 per annum (salary pending pay award).
  • Hybrid Working: Experience the joy of working outdoors daily.
  • Employee Discounts: Access a wide range of discounts at high street retailers, including supermarkets, stores, and restaurants.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Save approximately 40% on cycles and accessories.
  • Pension Scheme: Participate in the Local Government Pension Scheme with additional voluntary contribution (AVC) options.
  • Employee Assistance Programme: Receive free 24-hour legal, financial, and personal advice.

Is Working at a Desk Not for You?

This role is perfect for those who prefer not to be confined to a desk. Your primary responsibilities will involve:

  • Driving a Council Vehicle: Travel across the New Forest District to visually inspect various areas, including natural woodlands, children’s play areas, public car parks, and expansive coastal locations.
  • Digital Reporting: Use dedicated software on a tablet to record inspections and report defects to the relevant departments for repairs.
  • Minor Repairs: Address minor defects—like loose screws on a fence or a damaged car park sign—on-site with the tools provided. Most repairs will be carried out by our in-house maintenance teams.

The role will require a considerable amount of walking each day, so a good level of physical fitness is necessary. You should also be prepared to work outside in all types of weather that England has to offer.
