About the Role

The Urban Forest team is looking for an experienced and organized individual with a professional background in tree, forest, or woodland management. The primary responsibility of the Community Tree Officer will be to implement high-quality technical arboriculture services across the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tree Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess their health and safety.
  • Work Specification: Specify necessary works in accordance with the Council’s Tree Management Guidelines.
  • Community Engagement: Respond to inquiries from community members, including site visits and meetings.
  • Tree Warden Program: Play a key role in re-launching the Leeds Tree Warden Program, fostering community involvement in tree management.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are vital for effective interaction with community groups and stakeholders.
  • Self-Discipline: The ability to manage time and responsibilities independently is essential.
  • Experience with Tree Management Systems: While experience with tree management systems is preferred, training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: A solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications is required to perform various administrative tasks.
